I Liq Chuan – Zhang Xin Dao

As an open-minded mover, I have to work with every aspect of movements that work systematically. Therefore I’ve added to my System of motion aspects by mastering functional Chi Kung / Qigong   I Liq Chuan (Martial Art of Awareness), GM Sam Chin’s way Zhang Xin Dao. Next to Grand Master, I learn from Sifu Joshua Craig and Sifu Alex Skalozub.

Awareness of your body and mind (which ZXD works with) is crucial for every mover.
ZXD is an understandable concept of Qigong/Chi Kung, which you can relatively quickly feel into your body and apply to another body.

Which aspects of ZXD am I going to apply to mine the system?

– Absorb Project
– Condense Expand
– Yin Yang tissue
– Balanced contact

The picture is from the book: I Liq Chuan® System Guide Booklet.

Absorb – its movement from the point of contact (poc) with an opponent to poc with a floor in the front of the body.
Project – movement from poc with a floor to poc with an opponent in the back of the body!

Condense – energy movement from all extremes to dan tian through yin tissues and 90 degrees from the skin surface to the bone on the yin side of the body.
Expand – energy movement away from ming men towards all extremes through yang tissue and 90 degrees from the bone to the skin surface on the yang side of the body!

Absorb and Project: this means it’s from one point to another point: what goes up must go down—must have this connection. So, the connection is from here up and down.

Then big and small – gestures condense and expand. Every point must return; it’s a cycle. It’s a cycle, not a reverse. Since it’s a cycle—that means it must have a separation: Left Right, Up Down, Forward Back—so you travel from this site, and you come to down this side: go out from yang and come back on yin. Bone joints are where the ligaments and tendons are.

The ligament and tendons have 2 groups of muscles: yin and yang. That means it’s only 2 lines: the yin line and the yang line. The quality of the yin line has two energies:

Yin lineAbsorbing to dan tien (all yin to dan tien); then also condensing to the bone.

Yang lineExpanding out from ming men—that means it’s projecting from ming men going out to the fingernail and toenail and coming back from fingertips to the dan tien—must be separated by the bone.’
